According to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald, the court allowed to serve his probation outside the US in Bermuda. Dwyer was also fined $150,000 on charges brought by the US Department of Justice.

A spokesman for Dwyer said that his client is "relieved to have this matter behind him and looks forward to getting on with his life – both personally and professionally."

They also added that even the government "concedes that Mr Dwyer did not have control over BitMEX's operations or the company’s approach to compliance, and we are not aware of charges of this nature ever being brought against a similarly situated individual."

In February this year, Arthur Hayes and Ben Delo, the founders of BitMEX, were also pleaded guilty to violating US law. They both agreed to pay $10 million in separate fines.
