Coinsquare Suffers Data Breach After Hacker Attack

Canadian cryptoexchange Coinsquare has allegedly suffered a hacker attack. According to the platform, users' assets have not been affected.

The email sent by the exchange to its customers says the platform has suffered a "data incident" in which a third party has gained unauthorized access to users' personal information.

According to the statement, the attackers have gained access to customers' "names, email, residential address, phone number, date of birth, wallets, transaction history and account balances."

The exchange suspended operations, including withdrawals, last November 19 after discovering a vulnerability.

The team has reported:

"Earlier this morning, we detected unusual activity on our platform and out of an abundance of caution, we decided to undergo an unscheduled maintenance period while we address this issue."

It has assured that "100% of client funds are safely stored in cold wallets" and have not been affected by the incident.
