3Commas has reported the problem is not related to the hacking of the platform's "databases or accounts," as the victims include traders who have never used the company's services.
According to the company:
"A number of API keys were found to be linked to new 3Commas accounts that were created and used for the first time to perform unauthorized trades for the DMG trading pairs on the partner exchange."
Among the likely reasons, the experts have called "a phishing or hacking attack from a third party." During the investigation, they have discovered several fraudulent sites have copied the 3Commas interface and have been created for the purpose of "capturing API keys".
