The European Parliament Committee Approves Draft Law on Crypto Regulation

Members of the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee have just approved the cryptocurrency regulation bill MiCA by majority vote.

A total of 28 votes were cast in favor of the document. MEP Stefan Berger has described the results as "good news."

The final approval by the European Parliament is expected before the end of the month. The document will be published in the EU Official Journal early next year, before it enters into force from 2024.

Last October 5, the members of the EU Council signed the text of the draft law on the regulation of digital assets.

It should be noted that MiCA includes rules that apply to issuers of unsecured crypto assets, issuers of stablecoins, trading platforms and custody.

Crypto asset service providers will have to comply with strict requirements aimed at protecting consumers, and trading platforms will have to provide technical documents.
