Last September 7, coinciding with Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 14, unknown scammers launched the broadcast of an old interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook in an attempt to steal cryptocurrencies under the guise of giving them away, The Verge has reported.

The attackers reportedly used an old interview with Cook for CNN from 2018 as the basis for the broadcast.

They also added the Bitcoin and Ethereum logos and the title "Breaking News" to the broadcast.

The URL of the Apple LIVE channel page had nothing to do with the original company.

Users reported that the stream was displayed on the YouTube homepage. This was likely due to their recent research on current topics.
