Franklin Templeton, an investment firm that manages more than $1.4 trillion in assets, has just announced it plans to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on the metaverse.

According to the press release shared by the company, European investors will have access to the Franklin Metaverse UCITS ETF, an instrument that will replicate the dynamics of the Solactive Global Metaverse Innovation Net Total Return Index.

This index is composed of companies that have a significant impact on the virtual worlds segment.

The new ETF is expected to be launched on Deutsche Börse Xetra today, September 7, and on the Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange on September 9.

According to the company, it is betting on metaverse and blockchain because of the potential "profound impact on societies and global economic growth."
