Tim McCourt, head of equities and foreign exchange products at CME Group, has said of the launch:

"The launch of these new futures contracts builds on the strong growth and deep liquidity we have seen in our existing US dollar-denominated Bitcoin and Ether futures contracts."

The Bitcoin Euro and Ether Euro contracts are sized at 5 BTC and 50 ETH. The futures are cash-settled according to the CME CF Bitcoin-Euro and CME CF Ether-Euro benchmark rates, which serve as a daily benchmark for the price of crypto assets.

The exchange will list these new products in accordance with its rules.
