Ethereum core developers have suggested during the Consensus Layer Call to activate the Merge on or around September 15 at a total terminal difficulty of 58750000000000000000000. However, the developers admitted that the date is not final yet and things may change.

The Merge upgrade will be performed in two steps: Bellatrix and Paris. The first is now expected to happen on September 6, while Paris is set on September 15, although initially it was scheduled on September 19.
Earlier in July, an Ethereum developer "superphiz.eth" wrote on Twitter that Ethereum was set to replace its consensus algorithm from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake on September 19, should things go well. He added though that the timeline "isn't final."
