Iran Makes First Import Order With Crypto: Report

Iran has made its first import deal with the help of cryptocurrency, the local news media Tasnim reports. According to the report, the order valued at $10 million in crypto, although it remains unclear which cryptocurrency was used in the transaction.

It is also unclear who and what will export to Iran as part of this deal. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran said on Twitter that by the end of September, the use of cryptocurrencies and smart contracts "will be widely used in foreign trade with target countries."

iHodl reported about Iran's plans to use cryptocurrencies for import purposes back in 2020, when the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) said it would be using assets generated by local crypto miners.
