English soccer club Oxford City has just teamed up with crypto platform CoinCorner to start accepting payments in Bitcoin.

Oxford City plays in the Conference South, the sixth most important tournament in England. After the start of the season on August 6, fans of the team will be able to buy tickets for the club's home games, food and drinks at the stadium for Bitcoin using the Lightning Network.

CoinCorner has reportedly sponsored the club and launched the limited edition Oxford City FC Bolt card. As part of the partnership, the team will place the Bitcoin logo on its shirts.

Danny Scott, CEO of CoinCorner, has said:

"We believe this move will set a trend across the non-league and football league sectors as digital currencies establish themselves as the new normal for sports fans and event attendees across the UK."

Blockchain platform Tezos signed a deal with Manchester United in February. As part of this, the project's logo appeared on the training uniforms of the men's and women's teams.
