MineXMR, the largest mining pool for the privacy-focused crypto Monero, has just announced it will close its doors next August 12.

The pool's management team has asked miners to switch to other platforms in order to avoid the mining suspension.

The remaining rewards will reportedly be sent automatically after the pool closes.

The pool has not provided any reason for its closure.

According to MineXMR's own statistics, at the moment, the hashrate controlled by the pool amounts to 1.04 GH/s, or 40% of the total. Currently nearly 9,500 miners remain on the platform.

In February, members of the Monero community were concerned about the concentration of hashrate held by MineXMR. According to some, this carried the potential risk of a 51% attack by pool leaders.
