Hackers Stole Almost $2B from Crypto Projects in First Half of 2022

As reported by Atlas VPN, hackers targeting the crypto sector stole $1.97 billion from 175 projects during the first half of 2022.

According to the company's experts, the Ethereum ecosystem was the most affected with more than $1 billion in losses in 32 incidents.

Notably, the largest attack was the Ronin sidechain involved in the NFT game Axie Infinity. Attackers stole approximately $625 million in assets from the project's cross-chain bridge.

The second on the list was the Solana network with related projects. Hackers stole $383.9 million in just five attacks. In this case, a large part of the damage fell on the cross-chain protocol Wormhole, which lost more than $319 million.

This was followed by the BNB Chain ecosystem with losses of $141.4 million. Over the past six months, hackers have carried out 47 attacks on its projects.
