Shopify, one of the largest e-commerce platforms, has expanded its list of services with the so-called Tokengated commerce, TechCrunch has learned.

While it's unclear if Shopify will be powering the creation of non-fungible tokens, the platform wants to become a hub to "reward true fans and VIPs, by giving NFT holders exclusive access to products, perks, and experiences." Shopify said in a blog post:
"With Tokengated Commerce, your fans can connect their crypto wallets to your store and unlock personalized benefits with their NFTs—like exclusive merchandise, early access to drops, cool collabs with other brands, or even IRL experiences."
According to the report, merchants could activate the new feature online, on mobile or in physical retail. It will also build ways for NFTs from one shop or retailer or brand to be used in a Shopify-powered store.
