Mastercard Will Allow Users to Buy NFTs for Fiat

Payments giant Mastercard will allow its cardholders to buy non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

To do so, the company has signed agreements with Immutable X, Candy Digital, The Sandbox, Mintable, Spring, Nifty Gateway and MoonPay.

Mastercard cardholders will be able to purchase NFTs on platforms owned by these partners without having to buy cryptocurrencies upfront.

The company’s Vice President Raj Dhamodharan has said:

"We’re working with these companies to allow people to use their Mastercard cards for NFTs purchases, whether that’s on one of these companies’ marketplaces or using their crypto services. With 2.9 billion Mastercard cards worldwide, this change could have a big impact on the NFT ecosystem."

He has also pointed out that a survey conducted by the company among more than 35,000 people in 40 countries showed users are interested in non-fungible tokens. According to it, 45% of respondents answered they have purchased NFTs or intend to do so in the future.
