Hackers Hack Bored Ape Yacht Club Project’s Discord Servers

Hackers hacked into the Discord servers of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) project on May 4 and posted several phishing links on the communication channels.

They have reportedly stolen $359,000 in 200 ETH from NFT holders.

The project developers have said:

"Our Discord servers were briefly exploited today. The team caught and addressed it quickly. About 200 ETH worth of NFTs appear to have been impacted. We are still investigating."

The first user to draw attention to the incident was an analyst with the nickname OKHotShot. He noted the account of BAYC community manager Boris Wagner was compromised, enabling a phishing attack.

Wagner is the founder of Spoiled Banana Society (SBS), an incumbent BAYC group that creates a fantasy soccer league. The attackers also posted malicious links on his behalf on SBS communication channels.
