Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has added support for the Optimism Network, a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, as the exchange is expanding the list of supported assets on the platform. According to a blog post, users can already deposit ether (ETH) based on the Optimism Network.

However, the exchange said it will open withdrawals for ETH on Optimism Network only once there are "sufficient assets" in the exchange's wallet.
In February, the team behind the Optimism Network fixed a critical vulnerability discovered by programmer Jay Freeman in the code of a fork of the Geth client. Freeman said that the vulnerability allowed the creation of ETH in the protocol by repeatedly triggering the SELFDESTRUCT function. Thanks to the discovery, Freeman received $2,000,042, the maximum reward under the protocol's bounty program.
