Cboe Global Markets, operator of Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), has just completed the purchase of ErisX, a US-based trading and clearing platform for digital assets and their derivatives.
According to the press release shared by the company, the acquisition provides CBOE with the opportunity to enter the spot and derivative markets for digital assets through a compliant marketplace with industry partners.

Ed Tilly, chief executive officer of Cboe Global Markets, has said:
"Adding ErisX to the Cboe network is another exciting chapter in Cboe's growth story. We see enormous potential in the digital asset market."
ErisX will continue to operate as a subsidiary led by its current CEO, Thomas Chippas.
The platform is expected to launch a market data streaming service to existing operations. Cboe Digital will be a partner in the development of information products.
Chippas has said:
