Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has opened a waitlist for its upcoming NFT marketplace — Kraken NFT. The exchange said in a blog post that users won't pay any network fees for trading activity for as long as their NFTs are staying under Kraken's custody.

The exchange said:

"This helps you build your dream collection with near-instant transfer speeds and the peace of mind that spikes in network activity will not impact the cost of your purchases and trades."

Among other features, Kraken NFT also allows users to understand how rare certain characteristics of an NFT are as compared to other NFTs within the same collection. In addition to crypto, sellers can also list non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in fiat currencies like USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, CHF and AUD.

At launch, the marketplace will support only two blockchains — Ethereum and Solana — but Kraken says it's also working on support for other networks.

The move comes after Coinbase, Kraken's main rival in the US, also launched its NFT marketplace in beta mode for select users only. The exchange said that beta testers can create their profiles to buy and sell digital collectibles using any self-custody wallet.
