The store is a retail space, where people can discover Portal, Ray-Ban Stories and Quest 2 products and try them out in person. Visitors can try out video calls to retail associates with Portal and explore the VR with a first-of-its-kind immersive Quest 2 demo. The opening of the store is scheduled on May 9, 2022.

"At the Meta Store, we want you to interact with everything. We want you to pick stuff up. We want you to feel it."

The store also features an interactive display wall for Quest 2 that allows visitors to explore the hardware, its accessories, and VR-related content already available for the headset. Martin Gilliard, Head of Meta Store, hopes that the Meta Store is going to help people make a connection between the real and virtual worlds. Gilliard added:

"We're not selling the metaverse in our store, but hopefully people will come in and walk out knowing a little bit more about how our products will help connect them to it."

Earlier, iHodl reported that Meta is exploring the possibility of creating centralized tokens for its own metaverse. According to reports, Meta Financial Technologies, the company’s fintech arm, is weighing whether it can launch of a digital token, which the employees call "Zuck Bucks."
