US Authorities: North Korea-linked Hackers Are Attacking the Cryptocurrency Sector

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the FBI and the US Treasury have reported North Korean hackers are targeting the crypto sector.

According to the announcement, the hackers in question include the Lazarus Group, APT38, BlueNoroff and Stardust Chollima.

The US authorities have reported that attacks are being observed targeting the crypto and blockchain sectors, including exchanges, DeFi protocols, venture capital funds, large individual crypto asset owners and NFTs.

According to the announcement, attackers often use social engineering techniques in order to trick victims into downloading malware and applications. With their help, attackers gain access to the victim's device, steal passwords or use other security vulnerabilities.

In addition, the US authorities have made some recommendations to protect against such attacks, including the use of multi-factor authentication, connecting only to secure hosts and others.
