Popular US singer Madonna has purchased an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection for 80 ETH, around $556,000 at the time the transaction took place, she has announced via Instagram.
The purchase has reportedly taken place through infrastructure provider MoonPay.

Madonna has said of the purchase:
"Finally entered the MetaVerse… My very own Ape! What should I name her? Thanks Moonpay. We all need protection from Evil Eye."
NFTs marketplace OpenSea has reported MoonPay bought the BAYC token #4988 last week and transferred it to a wallet believed to belong to Madonna on Wednesday. Seven months ago, the same NFT was sold for 46.5 ETH.

On Thursday, MoonPay also transferred BAYC #1506 to an unknown address. After that, rapper Wiz Khalifa posted the token on his Twitter avatar.
