GameStop has launched a beta version of its NFT marketplace built atop Loopring L2. Adam Browman, Head of Growth at Loopring, wrote in a blog announcement that users can already get early access to the platform to set up their username and profile, make deposits and "be prepared for the full launch of the official marketplace coming soon."

Browman noted users can already mint NFTs directly on Loopring L2 for less than $1 while inheriting Ethereum L1 security. As iHodl earlier reported, the US video game retailer plans to launch the marketplace before the end of the second fiscal quarter of 2022. In the meantime, GameStop also plans to launch the marketplace on Ethereum layer 2 solution in a partnership with Immutable X. As part of the collaboration, GameStop will get up to $150 million in IMX tokens if it meets certain milestones.

Last December, GameStop opened a waitlist for NFT-artists and creators. The website also featured an address of a smart contract that will issue the gamestop (GME) tokens. However, no timeframes for the launch were given. As of press time it remains unclear though when the company plans to launch the marketplace.
