Deus Ex and System Shock video games developer Warren Spector does not see any use of non-fungible tokens (NFT) as he says these assets can be "instantly reproduced in unlimited quantities." In an interview with VentureBeat, Spector said he does not understand why anybody would "want to climb on that bandwagon." He continued:

"Ownership of virtual goods that can be instantly reproduced in unlimited quantities. Who thinks that's a good idea? So NFTs, I have no interest."

Spector also shared his opinion about the metaverse. He says the technology may be someday realized, but he thinks it is going to be long after he is gone:

"I am happy about that. I like living in the real world. I do not particularly find putting on a headset and interacting virtually with other people, not knowing if my wife is coming up behind me with a baseball bat–that just does not appeal to me."
