Ethermine, the world's largest ether (ETH) mining pool, is now blocking miners from Russia and Belarus. According to Bitfly — the owner of Etheremine — said that the move was made to comply with local regulations under the Financial Markets Money Laundering Act.

Besides Russia and Belarus, Ethermine also bars users from Afghanistan, Bahamas, Barbados, Botswana, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Panama, Syria, Trinidadand Tobago, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
Officially, it remains unclear what was the reason the for action. However, the move comes after other mining pools also sanctioned Russia. Earlier, Flexpool, the world's fifth largest ether mining pool, decided to stop all its mining services in Russia and refunded Russian users who were on the network.
