Users from Venezuela faced issues accessing MetaMask and Infura due to "legal compliance." According to reports on Twitter, Iranian users also lost access to their non-custodial wallets with the latest update.

Users said they could not also access OpenSea, a marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Shortly after the news broke, MetaMask reported that Infura had a "misconfiguration this morning." MetaMask added it had faced issues as it relies on Infura as the default endpoint.

The incident appears after Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, said that the US authorities should pay more attention to cryptocurrency regulations. Powell particularly noted that recent events in Ukraine emphasize a need to prevent sanctioned individuals and companies from using cryptocurrency to fight sanctions pressure.
