Ukraine has just expanded its ability to raise funds in cryptos by opening an official Polkadot (DOT) address.

The move has come after the blockchain project's founder, Gavin Wood, promised to personally donate $5 million in DOT to the country if a crypto address was created.

At the moment, the wallet contains around 10,080 DOTs valued at a total of $188,691.

Since the start of Russia's military operations in Ukraine, the crypto community has donated about $40 million in digital assets to Ukrainian charitable foundations. About a quarter of the donations come from official crypto wallets in Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT.

The authorities have announced along with the addition of the Polkadot address a further expansion of the list of accepted cryptocurrencies.
