The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has filed a trademark application for a marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and virtual goods, Bloomberg has reported.

The NYSE issued an NFTs collection in April "to honor of the initial public offering of US high-tech companies." Each token contains metadata about the prices of Spotify, Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash, Roblox and Coupang and marks the exact time the company went public. According to the platform:

"Provision of an online marketplace for buyers, sellers, and traders of downloadable digital goods authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs); provision of an online marketplace of virtual and digital assets, artwork, collectibles, and non-fungible tokens; develop and design virtual retail stores, virtual stores and showrooms."

The announcement does not necessarily reflect a desire to launch a marketplace for NFTs. At the same time, it reflects the site's interest in protecting intellectual property related to the areas of interest.
