Hacker Steals $36M From Pension Crypto Accounts at IRA Financial Trust

An unknown attacker has stolen assets from pension savings accounts managed by IRA Financial Trust on cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, Bloomberg has reported. According to the publication's source, $36 million in Bitcoin and Ether have been stolen.

The affected users have spoken on Reddit forums about the transfer of their assets to the accounts of someone under the pseudonym Benjamin Choe.

Last February 8, IRA Financial Trust urged caution against phishing. As a precautionary measure, IRA Financial Trust suspended access to client accounts.

Five days later, the company reported that "all funds are safe." According to the statement, "the suspicious activity has affected a limited number of clients." The company has launched an investigation and has contacted the police.
