On Thursday, YouTube announced it plans to go further with Web3 and blockchain projects for 2022. YouTube's Chief Product Officer, Neal Mohan, wrote in a blog post that the company is exploring what new opportunities Web3 could offer for creators.

Particularly, Mohan said the company wants to find out how the new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators "to build deeper relationships with their fans."
"Together, they will be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible," he added.
YouTube is reportedly already is looking at NFTs in a way that would allow subscribers "to own unique videos, photos, art, and even experiences from their favorite creators could be a compelling prospect for creators and their audiences." Although Mohan did not clarify on the timetable, he said there is "a lot to consider" in making sure YouTube approach these new technologies "responsibly."
