Microsoft Seeks Expert for Crypto Arm

Microsoft is looking for a Director of Business Development and Cryptocurrencies who will work on data-driven strategies that will impact both short- and long-term engineering plans. According to a job post, the candidate will also identify and structure complex partnerships and acquisitions.

The Redmond-based company added that the successful candidate should also have at least 1+ years experience in crypto, with "working knowledge of tech and protocols surrounding DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and Web 3.0."

"This role requires an understanding of the Web 3.0 market and you will drive collective impact on growing the business," the position says.

This might be Microsoft's second attempt to find a potential gold mine in the crypto market as the US tech giant after six years in operation closed its blockchain project Azure Blockchain Service in May 2021. Microsoft did not explain the reasons for its decision.

In August last year, American multinational retail corporation Walmart also published a job post seeking a cryptocurrency expert to help it in developing "the Digital Currency strategy and product roadmap." The retail giant was looking for a crypto-and-blockchain expert to identify technology and customer trends and the "investments needed to build on those trends."
