The operators of the LockBit ransomware have threatened to publish the data of the users of cryptocurrency exchange PayBito, Security Affairs has reported.
According to the security service, a hacker group has reportedly stolen a database that includes the data of 100,000 customers of the crypto exchange.
The group also claims to have stolen email hashes and passwords that can be easily cracked due to the use of a "weak hashing algorithm." The hackers also claim to have stolen the personal data of the platform's administrators.

If PayBito does not pay a ransom by February 21, 2022, LockBit promises to publish the stolen data on its website.
The LockBit ransomware gang has been active since September 2019, while in June 2021 the group announced LockBit 2.0 RaaS. Like other ransomware gangs, LockBit 2.0 determines the user's language settings and only attacks those that do not match an established list of Eastern European languages.
