Merkle Standard Purchases 4,449 Bitcoin Miners From Bitmain

Crypto mining company Merkle Standard has just reached an agreement with mining device maker Bitmain to purchase new liquid-cooled ASIC miners, CoinDesk has reported.

Under the terms of the contract, 4,449 Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd units are expected to be delivered in May 2022. Notably, it remains unknown how much Merkle Standard has paid for the devices.

The California-based company has previously purchased 13,500 devices from Bitmain, including the S19XP and S19J Pro models. The company is expected to reach a hashrate of 4.6 EH/s by the end of the year.

Merkle Standard will install the purchased devices in a data center in eastern Washington. Their power consumption is estimated at 225 MW and could increase to 500 MW.

Bitmain introduced in January 2022 a new mining device with a hashrate of 198 TH/s and energy efficiency of 27.5 J/TH. Prior to this, the manufacturer launched the S19XP device based on 5nm chips from TSMC. Its parameters are 140 TH/s, 21.5 J/TH and 3,010 watts.
