Alexander Russman, Director Of Business Development at the HBAR Foundation, says the partnership "recognizes the value proposition the Hedera network presents for the video games industry."

"Ubisoft has been a pioneer in its engagement with distributed ledger technology, and the decision to directly engage with THF to enhance the support it provides to entertainment and gaming innovators provides tremendous opportunities for developers, startups and users alike," Russman added.

The move comes after Hedera launched the mainnet of smart contracts 2.0. Ubisoft continues its development in the cryptocurrency-related direction despite criticism the company faced after it had launched a platform for players with support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

In October 2021, DBS Bank, a Singaporean multinational banking and financial services giant, also joined the Hedera Governing Council to run network node and explore more blockchain opportunities.
