Shopify founder and CEO Tobias Lütke will join the board of crypto exchange Coinbase, the platform has just announced via Twitter.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, said of the move:
"Tobi brings a wide variety of skills and expertise to the Coinbase board. He also deeply believes in the power of crypto and was an early adopter of crypto through Shopify’s integration with Coinbase Commerce."

Under Lütke's leadership, the company hopes to "unlock the potential" of digital assets "to increase economic freedom in the same way that Shopify has democratized online commerce."
The board of directors will approve the appointment within a week.
