London Metal Exchange Head Joins Crypto Custodian as CEO

London Metal Exchange CEO, Matthew Chamberlain, will leave the exchange on April 30 to join cryptocurrency custodian Komainu as CEO. According to a press release shared with iHodl, Chamberlain will continue growth of Komainu, as it further develops its platform to offer a range of services for institutional investors.

Prior to the London Metal Exchange, Chamberlain worked in M&A at Citibank, Perella Weinberg Partners and UBS. Chamberlain expressed his belief in the "transformative capacity of a blockchain-empowered world," adding that such technologies will deliver their potential only with robust infrastructure.

Komainu Crypto Custodian to Store Seized Assets

In March 2021, Komainu — founded by Nomura, CoinShares and Ledger — raised $25 million in a Series A funding round led by Alan Howard of Elwood Asset Management, with additional participation from Galaxy Digital, NOIA Capital and Nomura Research Institute.
