More Than $83M Are Withdrawn From Binance After Russia's Central Bank Proposes Crypto Ban

An unknown crypto investor has withdrawn $83 million in USDT from Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange by trading volume. The transaction was discovered by Whale Alert, which tracks large cryptocurrency movements.

The transfer came after the Bank of Russia proposed to ban the mining, issuance, circulation and exchange of cryptocurrencies in Russia.

The central bank also proposed to introduce liability of Russian individuals and legal entities for the use of cryptocurrencies for payments and to develop a mechanism to block transactions with them. However, the regulator has not disclosed what the fine or punishment for non-compliance would be.

At the same time, Russia's central bank does not completely prohibit the possession of cryptocurrencies, as well as transactions with them in another jurisdiction. Users can also buy and sell cryptocurrencies.
