Animoca Brands Raises $358M to Speed Up Acquisitions

Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based blockchain software company, has raised $358,888,888 in a funding round led by Liberty City Ventures, with other investors including 10T Holdings, Soros Fund Management, Winklevoss Capital, Sequoia China, and others.

The company said in an announcement it plans to use the proceeds to continue funding acquisitions and investments. Yat Siu, Co-Founder of Animoca Brands, says the market is still at the initial stages of a "new Internet revolution." He added:

"We have set ourselves the ambitious goals of building an open Web3 and facilitating an open metaverse that expands financial inclusion."

The Hong Kong-based company is best known for its investments in The Sandbox, Axie Infinity, F1 Delta Time, OpenSea, Dapper Labs, and others. The latest funding round brought the company's pre-money valuation of over $5 billion. In November last year, Animoca Brands said it will cover users' losses (265 ETH worth about $1.1 million) following the hack of the Phantom Galaxies Discord.
