SpaceX Raises $337M Amid 'Genuine Risk of Bankruptcy'

SpaceX, an American aerospace manufacturer, has raised $337.3 million in equity financing from a pool of investors, Reuters has learned, citing the rocket company's disclosure in a regulatory filing. The funding comes the company's valuation hit $100 billion back in October.

In November, Elon Musk wrote in a companywide email that the lack of progress toward the company’s Raptor engines puts SpaceX at a "genuine risk of bankruptcy." He added:

"The Raptor production crisis is much worse than it had seemed a few weeks ago."

According to Morgan Stanley's estimates, the space economy could be worth $1 trillion by 2040. SpaceX plans to land its Starship rockets on Mars before 2030.
