DCG and Jamestown to Create One Times Square to Decentraland Metaverse

Digital Currency Group (DCG), a venture capital company focusing on the cryptocurrency market, in a partnership with real estate firm Jamestown will recreate One Time Square in Decentraland, a decentralized virtual world. Simon Koster, DCG's Head of Real Estate, said in a press release that the event "highlights how virtual events can cohesively integrate with real ones."

The One Times Square will launch in Decentraland on New Year's Eve with the MetaFest 2022 party featuring music and entertainment acts. The event will also include CryptoArt galleries, and immersive games.

Meanwhile, ProShares, an issuer of exchange-traded funds, filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) with a focus on the metaverse. The so-called ProShares Metaverse Theme ETF will follow the dynamics of the Solactive Metaverse Theme Index, which includes companies that provide or use the technologies underlying metaverse-related products.
