Blockchain accelerator MouseBelt has filed a lawsuit against Coinbase founder Brian Armstrong. According to the lawsuit, Armstrong has since 2019 been financially assisting Patrick Joyce in his development of Knowledger, a platform for publishing academic research using tokens.

At the same time, the plaintiffs claim Armstrong was secretly developing a similar platform called ResearchHub. MouseBelt claims Armstrong obtained detailed information about Knowledger from Joyce and used it in the development of ResearchHub.

Armstrong allegedly obtained information about Joyce's financial debts and offered to pay them if he agreed to work for ResearchHub. Armstrong also allegedly offered to list the token on Coinbase. Ultimately, Knowledger was never launched, but ResearchHub was created. However, in spite of the allegations of the token's possible inclusion on Coinbase, ResearchCoin (RSC) was never listed on the crypto exchange. Coinbase still has not made any statement on the matter. The court has not yet decided on the amount of damages.
