Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is experiencing connectivity issues as the Shiba Inu (SIB) altcoin — the so-called "Dogecoin killer" — has risen by over 60%. As of press time, the Coinbase status page says the incident affected not only the main website, but also Coinbase Mobile, Coinbase API, and Coinbase Card.

However, officially it remains unclear if SHIB has anything to do with the exchange's crash. Coinbase has not made any statement regarding the incident so far. As of the writing of this article, SHIB is trading up by 64% at the $0.0000811 mark. The total market capitalization of SHIB is over $47 billion. The altcoin has even shortly flipped USD coin (USDC) and dogecoin (DOGE) by market cap.
