Swiss Post, the national postal service of Switzerland, is taking one step closer to blockchain-based services with a new initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds.

According to an official announcement, the Swiss Post will issue a total of 175,000 crypto stamps on a blockchain network on November 25. Every crypto stamp contains one of 13 possible designs, which vary in rarity: 65,000 copies of the most common digital design versus 50 of the rarest.

The crypto stamps can be collected, exchanged or even traded online on specific marketplace of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The stamps will be available for purchase in selected Swiss Post branches. The move comes shortly after the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) approved the country's first cryptocurrency fund.

The agency said the so-called Crypto Market Index Fund was approved in accordance with Swiss law and is belonging to the category "other funds for alternative investments" which means only qualified investors have access to it.
