The world's largest ether (ETH) mining pool Sparkpool has announced the suspension of services citing plans to be "maximumly compliant with regulatory requirements." The mining pool tweeted that a complete shutdown for all services is scheduled on Sept. 30 at 20:00 (UTC+8).

The announcement comes after China has imposed an additional pressure on all cryptocurrency-related firms, including mining providers and exchange platforms. Cryptocurrency exchange Huobi has already said it plans to clean up existing mainland clients by end-2021.

As of press time, Sparkpool is the second ETH mining pools in terms of hashrate. The pool is inferior in hashrate to Ethermine, which generates over 156 TH/s and includes 307 535 miners.

China's Central Bank Bans All Crypto Transactions

Cryptocurrency exchange FTX has also abandoned its office in Hong Kong. FTX spokeswoman confirmed Bloomberg in an email that the exchange is now headquartered in the Bahamas.
