Twitter has announced its users can now tip each other with bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) using Strike – a payments application built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network. However, not all users can access the new feature at launch. As of press time, Strike is available only to users in El Salvador and the US (excluding Hawaii and New York).

"Digital currencies that encourage more people to participate in the economy and help people send each other money across borders and with as little friction as possible – help us get there," the company said in a blog post.
However, in order to use the new feature users will have to sign up for a Strike account and add their Strike username to receive bitcoin tips over the Lightning Network. Twitter says users can use "any wallet" which supports the Lightning Network.
The addition comes after Robinhood said it plans to allows eligible clients to begin testing cryptocurrency wallets in October this year. The access will be rolled out gradually as the company will get enough feedback on the new service with the full launch to happen in early 2022.
The Menlo Park-based brokerage says crypto wallets support ID verification, multi-factor authentication, and email/phone verification.
