The US court has released Riccardo Spagni, a 38-year-old former lead developer of Monero, from jail. Spagni said in a recent tweet he is "actively working" with his attorneys on a way to return to South Africa to address the matter.

"I am very pleased that the US court has released me. I am actively working with my attorneys on a way to return to South Africa as soon as possible so I can address this matter and get it behind me once and for all. That is what I have always wanted to do," Spagni said.
As iHodl earlier reported, Riccardo Spagni was arrested in July in Nashville, Tennessee, on fraud charges allegedly related to offenses in South Africa between 2009 and 2011.
According to the court documents, the Government of South Africa seeks Spagni's provisional arrest with a view toward his extradition to stand trial for fraud. The Government of South Africa claims that as an employee of Cape Cookies, Spagni "intercepted invoices from another company, Ensync, relating to information technology goods and services it had supplied Cape Cookies."
Spagni's attorney, Duncan Okes, said in a recent statement that his clients was arrested due to a "series of administrative errors and misunderstandings."
