OpenSea, a marketplace of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), seems to have destroyed over 40 NFTs as an internal bug redirected all tokens based on ERC-721 and ERC-1155 protocols to the wrong address, the lead developer of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), Nick Johnson, wrote on Twitter.

Johnson explained that he tried to transfer his NFT-based domain rilxxlir.eth from ENS to OpenSea in order to auction the domain on the marketplace. But when he transferred the token he found that the NFT was sent to a wrong address, which de facto burned the domain. While Johnson still has ownership over the domain, he cannot move the token itself on the blockchain network.

He also said that the OpenSea team has already fixed the bug, however, at least 21 accounts with a total sum of 42 NFTs have also been trapped into the same technical issue. The sum of losses has reached up to the $100,000 mark in terms of ETH.
