Russia Has No Plans to Legalize BTC

Dmitry Peskov, the official representative of Russian president Vladimir Putin, has said there is no reason for the recognition of Bitcoin in the country and that putting the cryptocurrency in line with money "would bring nothing but detriments" to the financial and economic system, RIA Novosti has reported:

"Clearly, Russia is not ready for such moves."

The Bank of Russia deputy chairman Alexey Zabotkin said in July large economies would not legalize Bitcoin. Zabotkin recalled that from the central bank's point of view, cryptos are monetary substitutes, and in Russia, the ruble remains the only means of payment.

Today, a law legalizing Bitcoin as a means of payment came into force in El Salvador. The country's authorities have announced the purchase of 400 Bitcoins. In September, the finance commission of the legislative assembly approved a $150 million trust fund to support a plan to legalize Bitcoin.
