General Manager of UK and EMEA at Coinbase, Marcus Hughes, says the exchange has witnessed a "huge rise in customers purchasing ether in recent months and so are delighted to be in a position to offer them staking rewards for this asset."

"In the current climate, a return of 5% is incredibly competitive and, given the success of our existing staking rewards programmes we expect ETH2 staking to be highly popular amongst our UK users," Hughes added.

Ether Price Exceeds $3,500 For the First Time Since May

iHodl previously reported that a Swiss cryptocurrency bank called Sygnum also added support for the Ethereum 2.0 staking feature. The bank said it became the first financial institution to offer staking of ethers. Besides Ethereum 2.0, Sygnum offers staking for tezos (XTZ), and a yield-generating fixed term deposit on its Digital Swiss Franc stablecoin (DCHF).
