International investment firm BlackRock, which has $9 billion in assets under management, has acquired stakes in NASDAQ-listed mining firms Marathon Digital Holdings and Riot Blockchain.
As per the June 30 Form 13F, BlackRock has acquired 6.71% of Marathon Digital Holdings (about $207 million) and 6.61% of Riot Blockchain (about $175 million). The total value of its positions amounts to $382.96 million.

According to ETF.com, BlackRock's iShares Russell 2000 ETF holds more Marathon and Riot stocks than any other ETF, while the iShares Russell 2000 Value ETF ranks third in the same metric.
Marathon Digital Holdings shares are up more than 800% over the past year, and Riot Blockchain shares are up 704%.
Financial company Fidelity Investments, which manages $10.4 trillion in assets, has previously acquired a 7.4% stake in Marathon Digital Holdings.
