Insurance Company Metromile Invests $1 Million in Bitcoin

US-based Metromile, which sells pay-per-mile auto insurance through a digital platform, has just made a $1 million investment in Bitcoin.

According to the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company bought the cryptocurrency during the first half of 2021. During this period, Metromile did not sell digital assets.

The company has clarified it used the services of another company to store the purchased Bitcoins.

Metromile announced back in May it intended to add the ability to pay insurance and receive reimbursements in Bitcoin. At that time, the company announced it planned to purchase $10 million in Bitcoin to secure the solution.

MicroStrategy was the first public company to invest in the leading crypto. The company currently owns 105,085 BTC.
